The SHIW project aimed to transform workplace culture across Ontario by addressing sexual harassment and systemic barriers to safety. Our team conducted a feminist, trauma-informed evaluation across 20 community-led projects, each with autonomy in approach and tailored to local needs.
Using mixed methods—surveys, interviews, participatory workshops, and policy tracking—we created real-time feedback loops to adapt evaluation approaches to the diverse organizations involved. Survivors, racialized workers, Indigenous communities, and LGBTQ+ participants were engaged in culturally safe ways,
ensuring their voices guided recommendations.
The evaluation demonstrated tangible change, including new workplace policies, safer reporting mechanisms, and shifts in organizational culture. By embedding equity and capacity-building into the evaluation, we supported organizations to sustain improvements and continue fostering safe, inclusive workplaces.
