Safer Spaces Program Evaluation

Relationship to bid

  • Regional specialization (BC-Yukon), with lessons applicable nationally
  • Strong participatory and equity-informed engagement practices
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate sensitive topics with cultural safety and accessibility
  • Alignment with IRCC’s emphasis on inclusive, trauma-informed evaluation

go2HR launched Safer Spaces, an online training program and awareness campaign designed to prevent workplace sexual harassment in BC’s tourism and hospitality industry. We conducted a program evaluation using document reviews, analytics, surveys, and interviews with staff, partners, and course participants.

Given the sensitive subject matter, engagements were led with a DAEIR lens. Gender-matched facilitators created safer participation environments; participants were offered flexibility (camera-off options, off-hour sessions), access to self-care resources, and stipends to recognize their contributions.

The final deliverable included a comprehensive report analyzed through a GBA Plus lens, with evidence-based recommendations for strengthening the program. The evaluation not only improved training content and delivery but also contributed to sector-wide capacity building by equipping workplaces with practical tools to foster safe, inclusive environments.
