Justice Avenues provides free legal advice to racialized people, Indigenous people, and newcomers in PEI on family, criminal, and immigration law. Our team conducted a needs analysis and is leading an ongoing evaluation to assess program design, promotion, and outcomes.
Using trauma-informed, inclusive methods, we carried out 48 interviews and focus groups with clients, lawyers, partners, and staff, alongside a client survey. All engagements were shaped by safer space guidelines, cultural responsiveness, and accessibility protocols.
The evaluation also includes a best practices scan, development of data collection tools, and collaborative engagement with program
partners. Early findings highlight the program’s success in reducing barriers to justice, strengthening partnerships with community organizations, and improving equitable access to legal supports for newcomers and marginalized groups.
